A line of trekkers crossing a snowfield towards a bare summit ridge under a deep blue sky.

Privacy Policy

SVVAYAM plans and guides curated journeys across the Indian Himalaya — treks, wildlife and wilderness travel, pilgrimages and off-map expeditions.

This policy explains what we do with your personal data. It describes what this website actually does, rather than what a travel website usually does.

What we collect

When you browse, we collect nothing. No cookies, no analytics, no advertising or social media pixels, no tag manager. Nothing is stored on your device. Our fonts are served from our own domain, so no one else learns that you visited.

When you send the enquiry form on our Contact page, we collect only what you type:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone or WhatsApp number (optional)
  • The subject you pick from the list
  • Your message
  • The date and time you sent it

That form is the only place on this website that collects anything.

Two things happen automatically that you should know about:

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary web server logs, which include your IP address. We don’t use these for tracking and we don’t build profiles from them.
  • The map. Our Contact page embeds a map from a third-party mapping service. Your browser fetches the map directly from them, so they receive your IP address when that page loads — before you click anything.

We take no payments on this site, so we never see or hold your card details.

Why we use it

We use your enquiry to do three things, and nothing else:

  • Reply to you — answer the question you asked.
  • Plan your journey — prepare an itinerary, quote or set of dates for you.
  • Keep a record — retain the correspondence so we know what was discussed if you travel with us.

We don’t sell your data, rent it, or trade it.

Consent, and taking it back

You give consent by filling in the form and pressing send, after reading the notice next to that button. You choose what to tell us — only your name, email and message are required.

You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@svvayam.in and asking us to delete your enquiry. It is as easy to take back as it was to give, and we won’t ask you to justify it.

How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry for 12 months from your last contact with us. If you write to us again within that time, the 12 months starts again from the newer message. After that, we delete it from our records.

Third-party services we rely on

We keep this deliberately small. Your enquiry passes through three kinds of service:

  • Hosting. A third-party hosting provider serves this website and runs the process that receives your enquiry. It keeps server logs containing IP addresses.
  • Enquiry storage. Your enquiry is recorded into a spreadsheet held with a third-party cloud provider. This is where enquiries live.
  • Mapping. The map on our Contact page is served by a third-party mapping service, which receives the IP address of anyone who opens that page.

Our email is handled by a third-party email provider. That is the full list — we don’t use a CRM, a mailing platform, a chat widget or an analytics service. These providers process your data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Your data leaves India

The services above run on infrastructure outside India. So your enquiry — your name, email, phone and message — is stored outside India. Indian law permits this except for countries the government has restricted, but you are entitled to know it, so we are telling you plainly.

Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you can:

  • See what personal data we hold about you, and who we have shared it with.
  • Correct anything wrong, incomplete or out of date.
  • Erase it — ask us to delete your enquiry.
  • Complain to us if you think we have mishandled your data.
  • Nominate someone else to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to act for yourself.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.

To use any of these, or to raise a complaint about how we have handled your personal data, email info@svvayam.in. There is no charge, and you don’t have to give a reason.

If we can’t resolve it

If you have raised something with us and you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, the regulator set up under the DPDP Act. You don’t need our permission, and coming to us first does not take that right away.

Children

This form isn’t meant for under-18s. Please don’t send us a child’s details through it — if you are planning a family journey, give us the adult’s contact details and we will handle the rest by email.

If we find we are holding a child’s personal data without a parent or guardian’s consent, we will delete it. We don’t profile children and we don’t run behavioural advertising at anyone.

Keeping it safe

Honestly, and without overstating it:

  • This site is served over HTTPS.
  • Your enquiry is written to our records by a restricted automated account with its own private key, rather than a shared password.
  • We take no payments, so there are no card details to lose.
  • We don’t ask for passwords, identity numbers, or health and medical information through this form. Please don’t send them.

We are a small team and we are not claiming more than the above. We would rather tell you exactly what we do than list security measures we have not put in place.

If something goes wrong

If personal data we hold is breached, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and everyone affected, as the DPDP Act requires.

Cookies and tracking

We don’t use any. No cookies are set by this website. Nothing is written to your browser’s storage. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no social media tracker and no tag manager.

That is why you have not seen a cookie banner here — there is nothing to ask you to consent to.

This would change if we ever added analytics, an advertising or social pixel, a chat widget, or an embedded video. If we do, we will update this section and add proper consent controls first.

Changes

We will post updates here with a new version number and date. The version in force is the one on this page.
